Pentecostalism in General According to some information from Got Questions: Pentecostalism is a fairly modern movement that can be traced back to the Holiness movement in the Methodist Church and some things that can be associated with the formation or popularity of this and related movement are things such as the Toronto Blessing, or Azuza Street Revival. There are approximately 170 different denominations that identify themselves as Pentecostal. The Azusa Street Revival was a Pentecostal gathering that occurred in Los Angeles, California, in April 1906. This is referring to things occurring on events pertaining to Azusa Street: William Seymour, one of Charles Parham’s students.
