Revealing of Mysteries to Paul
The revealing of Mysteries to Paul
If you’ve read the Book of Acts, you will notice that things
transition FROM attention being given to the nation of Israel TO the giving of
the Gospel to the Gentiles (and Jewish people).
Notice Paul say “MY GOSPEL” as well as the highlighted parts for
emphasis.
Romans 16:25-26
“Now to him that is of power to stablish
you according to my gospel,
and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since
the world began, 26 but now is made manifest, and by the
scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting
God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:”
1Corinthians 2:6-8
“Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that
are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this
world, that come to nought: 7 but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the
hidden wisdom,
which God ordained before the
world unto our glory: 8 which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not
have crucified the Lord of glory.”
Ephesians 6:18-20
Authorized (King James) Version
“praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints; 19 and for me, that utterance may be given unto
me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am
an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”
Even the disciples at a certain time
didn’t know about for instance the death, burial, and resurrection of The Lord
Jesus Christ at a certain time when they spent time physically in Jesus’
presence, certain things had to be revealed to them at the appropriate times.
Matthew 16:21-23
Authorized (King James) Version
“From that time forth began Jesus to
shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many
things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the
third day. 22 Then
Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord:
this shall not be unto thee. 23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou
art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but
those that be of men.”
Let’s look at some things
(mysteries) revealed to Paul that we can learn from the Pauline Epistles:
Colossians 1:25-27
Authorized (King James) Version
“whereof I am made a minister,
according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil
the word of God; 26 even the mystery
which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to
his saints: 27 to
whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among
the Gentiles; which is
Christ in you, the hope of glory:”
Ephesians 3:1-12
Authorized (King James) Version
“For this cause I Paul, the
prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, 2 if ye have heard of the
dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: 3 how that by revelation he made known unto me
the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4 whereby, when ye read, ye
may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is
now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; 6 that the Gentiles should be fellowheirs,
and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: 7 whereof I
was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by
the effectual working of his power. 8 Unto me, who am less than the least of
all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
9 and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath
been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10 to the
intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be
known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, 11 according to the eternal
purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: 12 in whom we have boldness
and access with confidence by the faith of him.”
And another:
1Corinthians 15:51-58
“Behold, I shew
you a mystery; We shall
not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a
moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall
sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be
changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on
incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So
when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall
have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is
written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O
death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy
victory? 56 The sting of death is sin;
and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But
thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord
Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be
ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as
ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
Authorized (King James) Version
“For the Lord himself shall descend from
heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of
God: and the dead in
Christ shall rise first: 17 then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with
them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with
the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
Authorized (King James) Version
“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to
obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that, whether we
wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify
one another, even as also ye do.”
We have comfort as a saved Christian.
To see the full information that we have
been given in Paul’s Epistles for the Gentiles: Romans,
1Corinthians, 2Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians,
1Thessalonians, 2Thessalonians, 1Timothy, 2Timothy, Titus, and Philemon. Also
read the book of Acts, because many things lead towards Paul’s Epistles, and
even Hebrews because this is believed to be written by Paul as well and we can
learn from it as well. Even the whole Bible is important to read but we need to
rightly divide.
2 Timothy 2:15
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that
needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17
Authorized (King James) Version
“All scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 that the man of God may be
perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
