God The Father Is The Soul Of The Godhead

On the mount of transfiguration, a voice is heard from heaven confirming that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the voice was the voice of God the Father.

2 Peter 1:16-18 (KJV) – “For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. (17) For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (18) And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.”

This verse is referring to the transfiguration, and notice the key wording “in whom I am well pleased.”

There are 4 verses in the Gospels that contain that wording:

Matthew 3:17 (KJV) – “And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Matthew 17:5 (KJV) – “While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.”

Mark 1:11 (KJV) – “And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Luke 3:22 (KJV) – “And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”

In these verses, the Father is speaking and the Father is referring to himself. Now compare Isaiah 42:1 with Matthew 12:18.

Isaiah 42:1 (KJV) – “Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.”

Matthew 12:18 (KJV) – “Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.”

The Father is clearly the soul, because Matthew 12:18 says the soul is well pleased, and the parallel passages (Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5, Mark 1:11, and Luke 3:22) clearly say the Father is well pleased. Thus, the logical scriptural conclusion is that God the Father is the Soul.

More clear proof of this is in John 12:27-28.

John 12:27-28 (KJV) – “Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. (28) Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.”

Notice that Jesus Christ says the soul is troubled, but then proceeds to mention God the Father. It’s crystal clear that God the Father is the Soul of the Godhead.
