Evidence for a pre trib rapture based on scripture FROM Genesis
Disclaimer
Now please NOTE that this is NOT a study pertaining to a multitude of
saved Christian saints being caught up (or as man call “the rapture) in the
book of Genesis because THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. This will be a study using
scriptures from Genesis that can prove how God deals with those He deems
righteous and protects them from His wrath when the world receives a judgement.
A particular individual (Enoch) is taken in the book of Genesis, but
this study’s focus is moreso about some examples of evidence that will show
that there will be a pre Time of Jacob’s Trouble catching away (if these are
correct terms) based on an understanding from the scriptures based on reading
selected scriptures in Genesis. However, using that as a title would be
extremely long.
*Please note* for TERMINOLOGY USED:
"pre trib rapture" is NOT a scriptural term, this term is not found in the scriptures but many people are aware of this term so this is used as a hope to help guide them TO the scriptures
I have been made aware that a term such
as "Pre Time of Jacob's Trouble catching away" may not be correct in
the event that
IF *the event that occured in 70AD
regarding the destruction of the Temple(s) in Jerusalem* is the Time of
Jacob's trouble.
Then perhaps a catching away before the
day of Christ as per
2 Thessalonians 2:2
Authorized (King James) Version
"that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be
troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the
day of Christ is at hand."
1 Thessalonians 5:9
"For God hath not appointed us to wrath,
but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,"
But Lets not make up terms that appear
to add to scripture, but for the sake of this document I will try my best not
to.
*Please forgive my error if one has
occured*
Genesis 5:21-24
Authorized (King James) Version
“And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat
Methuselah: 22 and Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years,
and begat sons and daughters: 23 and all the days
of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 and
Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”
Hebrews 11:5-6
Authorized (King James) Version
“5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was
not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had
this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to
please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a
rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
In scripture the term rapture doesn’t appear, but taken, translation,
and caught up are some examples of scriptural terms for people that don’t die
but are taken to be with The Lord. Basically what I’m trying to say is that
there are events where people can be said to have been “raptured” but that the
word “rapture” isn’t in the scriptures. Lets also see 2Kings 2:1 and 2Kings
2:11 first we have:
2 Kings 2:1
“And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by
a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.”
2 Kings 2:11
“And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold,
there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both
asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.”
Now onto the study: Lets start with:
Evidence of a
Catching Away BEFORE the day of Christ (aka pre Trib rapture according to men):
Section A
1 Thessalonians 5:8-10
Authorized (King James) Version
“8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate
of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not
appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who
died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.”
Now The Pre Trib Rapture is a man made term not found in scriptures to
describe an event that DOES appear in scripture. This event is the catching up
of the body of Christ because we are caught up before the time of whats
referred to as the day of Christ in 2Thessalonians 2:2. Or the term could be
called a translation but again lets not add to scripture, but a translation is
what is occurring during that time that people call the pre trib rapture
because the body of Christ which are saved Christians during this dispensation
are going to meet The Lord in the air.
1Thessalonians 4:16-18
Authorized (King James) Version
“16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with
the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ
shall rise first: 17 then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up
together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we
ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
1Corinthians 15:51-53
Authorized (King James) Version
“51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall
all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:
for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we
shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this
mortal must put on immortality.”
This is the wrath that we are NOT going to face:
2Thessalonians 1:7-10
“and to you who are troubled rest with
us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty
angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on them
that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 who
shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord,
and from the glory of his power; 10 when he shall
come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe
(because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.”
2Thessalonians 2:1-12
“Now we beseech you, brethren, by the
coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together
unto him, 2 that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or
be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that
the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive
you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there
come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of
perdition; 4 who opposeth and exalteth himself
above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth
in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember
ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And
now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For
the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will
let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And
then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit
of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 even
him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and
signs and lying wonders, 10 and with all
deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received
not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And
for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a
lie: 12 that they all might be damned who believed
not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
2Thessalonians 3:1-5
“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may
have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with
you: 2 and that we may be delivered from
unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 3 But
the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from
evil. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching
you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. 5 And
the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting
for Christ.”
Genesis Section
A
Genesis 13:13
Authorized (King James) Version
“13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD
exceedingly.”
Now in the verses of Genesis 18:9-19, we see that God makes a promise to
Abraham that Sarah, Abraham’s wife will have a son which is Isaac, although not
mentioned in these verses, it was mentioned in Genesis 17:19,
Genesis 17:19
Authorized (King James) Version
“19 And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou
shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting
covenant, and with his seed after him.”
But with this promise, Sarah didn’t believe it, which we will see when
we read the verses, but I’m presenting these verses to show that these are
people that belong to God. Another promise or perhaps part of that same promise
depending on how you look at it of the promise of giving a son to Abraham and
Sarah and that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all
the nations of the earth shall be blessed in Him.
Genesis 18:9-19
Authorized (King James) Version
“9 And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold,
in the tent. 10 And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the
time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the
tent door, which was behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well
stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. 12
Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I
have pleasure, my lord being old also? 13 And the LORD said unto Abraham,
Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am
old? 14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return
unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. 15 Then
Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but
thou didst laugh.
16 And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham
went with them to bring them on the way. 17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide
from Abraham that thing which I do; 18 seeing that Abraham shall surely become
a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in
him? 19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household
after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment;
that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.”
Genesis 18:20-32
Authorized (King James) Version
“20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great,
and because their sin is very grievous; 21 I will go down now, and see whether
they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me;
and if not, I will know. 22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went
toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.
23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous
with the wicked? 24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt
thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are
therein? 25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the
righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that
be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? 26 And the LORD
said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all
the place for their sakes. 27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have
taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes: 28
Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy
all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I
will not destroy it. 29 And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure
there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty’s
sake. 30 And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak:
Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it,
if I find thirty there. 31 And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to
speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he
said, I will not destroy it for twenty’s sake. 32 And he said, Oh let not the
Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be
found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.”
We see that The LORD spares the righteous. A saved Christian is declared
righteous because of what The Lord Jesus Christ did for us. ALL glory goes to
The Lord Jesus Christ, the creator of Heaven and Earth and The ONLY Saviour.
Evidence of a
Catching Away BEFORE the day of Christ (aka pre Trib rapture according to men):
Section B
We receive righteousness by faith because we don’t have OUR own
righteousness which is of the law, because we have ALL SINNED, but we get or
will get the imputed righteousness of The Lord Jesus Christ. Lets look at
Romans 10:10
“For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
And
Galatians 5:5
“For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.”
I believe this is when we are redeemed. Lets see
Ephesians 1:12-14
Authorized (King James) Version
“12 that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in
Christ. 13 in whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the
gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed
with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 which is the earnest of our inheritance
until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his
glory.”
When we are redeemed, we will be remade, selected scriptures we
can examine are in 1Corinthians 15:35-58.
1 Corinthians 15:35-58
Authorized (King James) Version
“35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what
body do they come? 36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened,
except it die: 37 and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that
shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: 38
but God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own
body. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of
men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. 40 There
are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the
celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one
glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the
stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 42 So also is the
resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in
incorruption: 43 it is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in
weakness; it is raised in power: 44 it is sown a natural body; it is raised a
spiritual body.
There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is
written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a
quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that
which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of
the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As is the earthy,
such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also
that are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall
also bear the image of the heavenly.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the
kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I shew
you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a
moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall
sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on
immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and
this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the
saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is
thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the
strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the
victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye
stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye
know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
Read Romans as well as Galatians 3, this hopefully will show you that we
don’t have our own righteousness. But that our faith is counted as
righteousness for a saved repentant sinner. Lets examine selected scriptures
from Romans, which by the way is a wonderful book in the Bible, as is all
books, but I really like this one.
Romans 3:25
Authorized (King James) Version
“whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his
blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past,
through the forbearance of God;”
Romans 4:4-5
Authorized (King James) Version
“4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of
debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the
ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
Romans 4:24
Authorized (King James) Version
“but for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that
raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;”
Romans 5:13
Authorized (King James) Version
“(for until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when
there is no law.”
Romans 5:19
Authorized (King James) Version
“19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the
obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”
And ANOTHER set of pre day of Christ catching away verses and by no means is this all of them but lets see:
Romans 5:9
“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved
from wrath through him.”
Colossians 1:12-14
Authorized (King James) Version
“12 giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be
partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 who hath delivered us
from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear
Son: 14 in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of
sins:”
If you’re saved, you’ll see this A LOT! If you don’t get it, maybe just
that The Lord hasn’t revealed it to you yet so don’t worry. It took me a while
too. I’d get the obvious ones, but now I’m seeing more and more sort of hidden
ones or implied ones. Praise The Lord Jesus Christ for His wisdom that He
shares with saved Christians!
Genesis (and
related verses) Section B
Some background on just how bad it was at Sodom, one instance is that
men from Sodom which we will see in verse 5, these men wanted to “know” a
particular group of men (Angels) that were with Lot. In this instance the word
“know” is referring to men wanting to lay with men as if they were a woman.
Genesis 19:1-11
“And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of
Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed
himself with his face toward the ground; 2 and he
said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and
tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your
ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night. 3 And
he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his
house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did
eat.
4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the
men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people
from every quarter: 5 and they called unto Lot, and
said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this
night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. 6 And
Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, 7 and
said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. 8 Behold
now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring
them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes:
only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my
roof. 9 And they said, Stand back. And they
said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn,
and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them.
And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to
break the door. 10 But the men put forth their
hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door. 11 And
they smote the men that were at the door of the house with
blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the
door.”
The men (Angels) that are with Lot were Angels sent by The LORD to
destroy the place and warn Lot. Lets see these verses:
Genesis 19:12-14
“And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou
here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever
thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: 13 for
we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the
face of the Lord; and
the Lord hath sent us to
destroy it. 14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his
sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this
place; for the Lord will
destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.”
In verses 15-22 we see them escape, and I believe verse 22 is speaking
of that nothing can be done until “thou be come thither” meaning Lot goes away
from my understanding. And a question for the brethren if thou knowest: In
verse 18, when it says “my Lord” do you know why its capitalized? I assume this
is because one of the “men” which is one of the Angels that this is speaking of
is The Angel of The Lord? Which is Jesus. I believe it is, but I don’t want to
mislead in the event I am mistaken.
Genesis 19:15-22
“And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying,
Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be
consumed in the iniquity of the city. 16 And while
he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife,
and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him
forth, and set him without the city.
17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he
said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the
plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. 18 And
Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: 19 behold
now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy
mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to
the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die: 20 behold
now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a
little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?)
and my soul shall live. 21 And he said unto him,
See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow
this city, for the which thou hast spoken. 22 Haste
thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither.
Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.”
Verses 23-29 we see wrath occur and other things:
Genesis 19:23-29
“The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. 24 Then
the Lord rained upon
Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven; 25 and
he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the
cities, and that which grew upon the ground. 26 But
his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. 27 And
Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before
the Lord: 28 and
he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and
beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a
furnace. 29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed
the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the
midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.”
Lot was spared.
Lets look at verse 29 again
Genesis 19:29
“And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities
of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the
overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.”
Lets look at some verses from the New Testament that pertain to this
event.
Luke 17:26-30
“And as it was in the days of Noe, so
shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. 27 They
did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the
day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them
all. 28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot;
they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they
builded; 29 but the same day that Lot went out of
Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. 30 Even
thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”
2Peter 2:4-9
“4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but
cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of
darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 5 and spared not the old
world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness,
bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; 6 and turning
the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an
overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live
ungodly; 7 and delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation
of the wicked: 8 (for that righteous man dwelling among them, in
seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day
with their unlawful deeds;) 9 the Lord knoweth how to deliver
the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of
judgment to be punished:”
Genesis (and
other verses) Section C
For Genesis chapter 6 verses 1 to 7 some things we see
are: that essentially there is a problem which is: that the wickedness of man
was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart
was only evil continually. The LORD also decides on a judgement. But that’s not
all, lets check the scriptures for what they say, not what I say:
Genesis 6:1-7
Authorized (King James) Version
“And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the
earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 that the sons of God saw the
daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which
they chose. 3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man,
for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the
sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them,
the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and
that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved
him at his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created
from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and
the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.”
But in verses 8 to 10 we see that Noah found grace in the eyes of The
LORD and that he walked with God and we see the names of Noah’s three sons.
Genesis 6:8-10
Authorized (King James) Version
“8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. 9 These are the
generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and
Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.”
God is displeased and makes a judgement.
Genesis 6:11-13
Authorized (King James) Version
“11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with
violence. 12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for
all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. 13 And God said unto Noah, The
end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence
through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.”
God develops a plan to get selected people away from His wrath.
Genesis 6:14-17
Authorized (King James) Version
“14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark,
and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. 15 And this is the fashion
which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred
cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 16
A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above;
and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second,
and third stories shalt thou make it. 17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a
flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of
life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.”
As we will see in Genesis 6:18-22 in terms of people getting saved from
wrath (the flood) God promises to protect Noah, Noah’s sons, Noah’s wife, and
Noah’s sons’ wives and out of the people of the earth, this is all that will be
saved. And we see in 1Peter 3:20 that eight souls were saved.
Genesis 6:18-22
Authorized (King James) Version
“18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into
the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee. 19
And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into
the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. 20 Of
fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing
of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep
them alive. 21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou
shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them. 22
Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”
1 Peter 3:20
Authorized (King James) Version
“20 which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God
waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that
is, eight souls were saved by water.”
Lets look at Genesis chapter 7 and take note
about things that die and the scale of the destruction, and who is saved. Lets
look at Genesis 7:17-24 first:
Genesis 7:17-24
“17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters
increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth. 18 And the
waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went
upon the face of the waters. 19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the
earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were
covered. 21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of
cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth,
and every man: 22 all in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was
in the dry land, died. 23 And every living substance was destroyed which was
upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and
the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only
remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. 24 And the waters
prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.”
Also that people have a time period of seven days as we see in
Genesis chapter 7 verse 4 to get
saved ie on the ark but they don’t, it’s the righteous people that are saved by
God because God got Noah to build an ark and to get in. We as saved Christians
are given Jesus’ imputed righteousness and are saved from wrath through Him.
Romans 5:9
Authorized (King James) Version
“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved
from wrath through him.”
Lets see the entire chapter now:
Genesis 7
Authorized (King James) Version
“And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark;
for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. 2 Of every clean
beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts
that are not clean by two, the male and his female. 3 Of fowls also of the air
by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the
earth. 4 For yet seven days, and I will
cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living
substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth. 5
And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him. 6 And Noah was six
hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with
him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. 8 Of clean beasts, and
of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth
upon the earth, 9 there went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male
and the female, as God had commanded Noah. 10 And it came to pass after seven
days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the
seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great
deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was upon
the earth forty days and forty nights. 13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and
Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three
wives of his sons with them, into the ark; 14 they, and every beast after his
kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that
creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every
bird of every sort. 15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of
all flesh, wherein is the breath of life. 16 And they that went in, went in
male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him
in.
17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters
increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth. 18 And the
waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went
upon the face of the waters.
In Genesis chapter 8 we see the wrath is over and over time the waters
decreased over a period of time as well as other things.
Genesis 8
Authorized (King James) Version
“And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle
that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and
the waters asswaged; 2 the fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven
were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; 3 and the waters
returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and
fifty days the waters were abated. 4 And the ark rested in the seventh month,
on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. 5 And the
waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the
first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.
6 And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the
window of the ark which he had made: 7 and he sent forth a raven, which went
forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth. 8 Also he
sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face
of the ground; 9 but the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she
returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole
earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him
into the ark. 10 And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth
the dove out of the ark; 11 and the dove came in to him in the evening; and,
lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters
were abated from off the earth. 12 And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent
forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.
13 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first
month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth:
and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of
the ground was dry. 14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day
of the month, was the earth dried.
15 And God spake unto Noah, saying, 16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and
thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee. 17 Bring forth with thee
every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of
cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may
breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth. 18
And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him:
19 every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth
upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.
20 And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; and took of every clean
beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21
And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not
again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s
heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing
living, as I have done. 22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and
cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
Conclusion
Now there may be more evidences in Genesis, but I feel that this is
sufficient for us to see based on these scriptures that knowing how God doesn’t
make the righteous suffer from His wrath. It was the goal of this study to show
some examples of evidence that will show that there will be a pre day of Christ
catching away (if these are correct terms) based on an understanding from
selected scriptures in Genesis.
