Paul Vs Hyper Dispensationalism

Paul is the Apostle for the Gentiles (there are also SAVED JEWISH PEOPLE in the Body of Christ) Pauls Epistles are for Jews and Gentiles in the Body of Christ, don’t subtract from what he wrote.

First off all, now while people claim that Romans chapters 9 to 11 is to Israel, I believe they’re wrong and getting into hyper dispensational territory. These chapters are FOR gentile believers as important information pertaining to the subject of Israel. We need to understand that Paul is our apostle for the Gentiles correct? And that the body of Christ is also a new creature which contains Jewish and Gentile believers. We are also ONE body. And that whether he may be talking about Israel or even to Israel, he is doing so in terms of the body of Christ for both Jew and Gentile to understand the things he is addressing. If we don’t rightly divide the scriptures correctly as the term implies, then we lose part of Romans 2 such as verses 17 to 19 as well according to a false logic and then we are WRONGLY dividing the scriptures and making a mess of things which even Peter warned about regarding those who are unlearned and unstable that wrest the scriptures unto their own destruction. Let’s examine some scriptures.

2 Peter 3:15-16

Authorized (King James) Version

“15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.”

Romans 11:13-14

Authorized (King James) Version

“13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: 14 if by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.”

Galatians 2:6-9

Authorized (King James) Version

“6 But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man’s person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me: 7 but contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; 8 (for he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) 9 and when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.”

Now think logically, if Peter, John, and James were to be giving another Gospel, they’d be accursed and those who believe “their” gospel would be accursed as well according to verses we see in Galatians 1. Lets read:

Galatians 1:6-9

Authorized (King James) Version

“6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”

If we examine the books/epistles written by James, Peter, and John we do see that there is a more Jewish address to these letters and even outright stating things such as:

James 1:1

Authorized (King James) Version

“James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.”

1 Peter 1:1-2

Authorized (King James) Version

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.”

As for 1st John it doesn’t appear to be directly addressed to any single group of Christians, perhaps those who learned from John. But some examples of people he addressed were:

1 John 2:2

Authorized (King James) Version

“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.”

1 John 2:7

Authorized (King James) Version

“Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.”

1 John 2:12-14

Authorized (King James) Version

I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. 13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. 14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.”

2 John 1:1-3

Authorized (King James) Version

“The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; for the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever. Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.”

3 John verse 1

Authorized (King James) Version

“The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.”

With this stated, now we see the Epistles are for a future time to the Jewish people, most notably James does contradict Paul if we aren’t looking dispensationally at this. James shows justification by works as seen in James chapter 2, whereas Paul in Romans shows justification by faith as seen in verses in Romans 3:24, Romans 3:28, Romans 5:1. Now we could go into a huge study comparing Paul and the book of Romans to James but that’s another subject. I just wanted to show a dispensational difference and get you to study your Bible.

Now I may be wrong on this, but I don’t believe that Hebrews 4:2 or even the things Peter was preaching had anything to do with Acts 2:38 styled repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins when he mentioned the gospel in verses such as: 1Peter 1:12, 1Peter 1:25, 1Peter 4:6, 1Peter 4:17. I believe that Peter was teaching the death, burial, and resurrection of The Lord Jesus Christ as his gospel to the circumcision.

Now there is a time in the book of Revelation which mentions another gospel, an everlasting gospel, but keep in mind, this is in the future, we aren’t concerned with THAT particular gospel that is mentioned in Revelation 14:6-7. This particular gospel is not the gospel of salvation for today. Keep in mind, that angel is not accursed either, neither is Peter, or John, or James, or the Jewish people that got saved from their teaching.

As previously stated, we are also ONE body, but people claim that Romans chapters 9 to 11 is regarding Israel, ok, yes it does have much to do with Israel and we will have a look at that. But again, Paul is writing to us as a third entity the body of Christ (which contains Jewish and Gentile members) and not as a split group of for instance: only as Gentiles or also in the case of a Jewish Christian right now (nice to have you as well) as members of the body of Christ. Let’s look at:

Romans 11:25

Authorized (King James) Version

“25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.”

We will be refuting replacement theology later as well, but as seen in Romans 11:25 regarding blindness in PART is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. Now for this I believe that once the body of Christ is done, that God will catch us up when that last person is saved. That is just my belief. And no I’m not a Calvinist, but God DOES know everything, He is God. But also He is not willing that ANY should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2 Peter 3:9

Authorized (King James) Version

“9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

Regarding the one body:

Galatians 3:28

Authorized (King James) Version

“28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Colossians 3:11

Authorized (King James) Version

“11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.”

We are of ONE BODY

Colossians 3:14-16

Authorized (King James) Version

“14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Ephesians 4:1-7

Authorized (King James) Version

“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. 7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.”

Romans 12:4-6

Authorized (King James) Version

“4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;”

1 Corinthians 12:13-25

Authorized (King James) Version

“13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? 18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. 19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: 23 and those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. 24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: 25 that there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.”

But we must also RIGHTLY divide the word of truth, you can’t just omit something you don’t like. Also keep in mind how that ALL scripture is profitable if you teach it correctly.

2 Timothy 2:15

Authorized (King James) Version

“15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Authorized (King James) Version

“16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

And again another look at:

2 Peter 3:15-16

Authorized (King James) Version

“15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.”

Now regarding some of the opening verses of Romans chapters 9 to 11:

Romans 9:1-4

Authorized (King James) Version

“I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, 2 that I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. 3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: 4 who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;”

Romans 10:1-4

Authorized (King James) Version

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”

Romans 11:1-12

Authorized (King James) Version

“I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, 3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. 4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. 5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded 8 (according as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. 9 And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: 10 let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway. 11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. 12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?”

Paul wouldn’t steer us wrong. We are correct to believe Romans chapters 9 and 10 and 11 is written for us but the theme is Jewish; but as the body of Christ is composed of Jewish and Gentile believers, we can learn from and about both.

Is a Jewish Christian as a member of the body of Christ supposed to disregard anything regarding the Gentiles? God forbid, it works vice versa. Likewise, myself born as a Gentile (Italian and Canadian of mixed western European ancestry as according to the flesh) I can learn from scriptures pertaining to Israel and the Jewish people and about Gentiles and about the body of Christ. If we want an extreme asinine example of wrong division, are you going to be of an ill mind and disregard any time Paul quotes from the Old Testament, or disregard the Old Testament from your reading of scripture? You’ll be left missing out a LOT.

Romans chapters 9 to 11 which as a whole talk about Jewish things, but that Paul also addresses Jewish things in Romans 2, so are you going to remove Romans 2? NO!

Dividing things incorrectly and removing them from the Pauline Epistles is WRONGLY dividing the scriptures.

If it is discussed in Paul’s epistles it is for us as members of the body of Christ. We are to think of ourselves as members of the body of Christ where there is neither Jew nor Greek and we are ALL ONE in Christ Jesus.
