What does the wisdom and riches of this world get you?
What does the wisdom of this world get you?
A free ticket to hell essentially if you die in your sins without The Lord Jesus Christ saving you by the Gospel which was outlined in 1Corinthians 15:1-4.
There were many wise men, have a look at Solomon. None were as wise as Solomon. Also keep in mind that Jesus is God, we can go over this later if you have questions, but lets look at this first:
1 Kings 3:10-12
Authorized (King James) Version
"10 And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; 12 behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee."
With all that wisdom though, if one is not saved, it is in vain:
1 Corinthians 1:19-21
Authorized (King James) Version
"19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe."
In this current dispensation, for an unsaved man, if you die without being saved, then this life is all you've got, but for a saved man, there will be joy in Heaven for all eternity.
Ecclesiastes 9:4-10
Authorized (King James) Version
"4 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. 5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun. 7 Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works. 8 Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. 9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun. 10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."
My question is, is the knowledge of the world, or the coveting of riches worth it? You could be dead tomorrow and its all gone? And where is your soul now?
Mark 8:36
Authorized (King James) Version
"36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"
Luke 16:19-31
Authorized (King James) Version
“19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 and there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28 for I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”
If you get saved then you can earn rewards in Heaven.
Matthew 6:19-21
Authorized (King James) Version
"19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
Ecclesiastes 2
Authorized (King James) Version
"I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity. 2 I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What doeth it? 3 I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.
4 I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards: 5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits: 6 I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees: 7 I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me: 8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. 9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. 10 And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour. 11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.
12 And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can the man do that cometh after the king? even that which hath been already done. 13 Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness. 14 The wise man’s eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all. 15 Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity. 16 For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the fool. 17 Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. 18 Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me. 19 And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity.
20 Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun. 21 For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil. 22 For what hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun? 23 For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity.
24 There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God. 25 For who can eat, or who else can hasten hereunto, more than I? 26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit."
That was Ecclesiastes Chapter 2 from the Authorized Version of the Bible.

"10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he
loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins."
HOW TO BE SAVED:
Repent, put faith in Jesus’ blood, put faith in the
Gospel, call upon The Lord Jesus Christ and ask Him to save you:
Acts 20:21
Authorized (King James) Version
“testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks,
repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”
2 Corinthians 7:9
"Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but
that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner,
that ye might receive damage by us in nothing." KJV.
2 Corinthians 7:10
"For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation
not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." KJV.
Psalm 22:15-17
Authorized (King James) Version
“15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd;
and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws;
and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
16 For dogs have compassed me:
the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me:
they pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I may tell all my bones:
they look and stare upon me.”
Isaiah 53:5
Authorized (King James) Version
“5 But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.”
Understand YOU ARE A SINNER and only The Lord Jesus
Christ can save you:
Romans 3:20-26
Authorized (King James) Version
“20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no
flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But
now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by
the law and the prophets; 22 even the righteousness of God which is by faith of
Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no
difference: 23 for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24
being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ
Jesus: 25 whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his
blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past,
through the forbearance of God; 26 to declare, I say, at this time his
righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth
in Jesus.”
Romans 3:10
"as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not
one:" KJV.
Put your faith in the Gospel:
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel
which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2
by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you,
unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that
which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the
scriptures; 4 and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures:" KJV
For added assurance of salvation, call upon the name of
The Lord (The Lord Jesus Christ) for salvation:
Romans 10:8-13
"But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in
thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9
that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For
with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession
is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him
shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the
Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." KJV.
Believe in the FINISHED work of THE LORD Jesus Christ on
the cross. No sacraments or works can save you; only Jesus can save you.
John 19:30
Authorized (King James) Version
“30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he
said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”
