Salvation in The Book of Acts and Baptism in the Book of Acts: (Part 2)

Baptism I don't believe saves, read Paul's epistles (Romans - Philemon) however, a saved Christian should be baptized.

Mark 16:16-18

4:4 has the word “believed” but doesn’t mention salvation although they could be saved?

9:13-14 mentioning of the calling on of The Lord (which I can assume is salvation) as those that do so are basically arrested by Saul

9:31 we see churches had rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of The Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied. So people were saved but the exact method is not mentioned.

In 10:34-48 they received The Holy Ghost after receiving a speech and were commanded to be baptized AFTER.

13:38-39 talks about BELIEF that justifies, part of a speech from Paul from 13:16-41. 13:14-43 shows leading up and afterward

15:7 (see 15:6-11) Gentiles by the mouth of PETER should hear the word of the Gospel and believe and in verse 10 talks about a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear.

Interesting situation(s) and the LAYING of Hands to receive The Holy Ghost

 

From reading Acts 8:4-13 I know what it says, but I don’t believe Simon the sorcerer was saved even with belief and baptism if we see the next set of verses 8:14-24, it appears also that people believed and were baptized but didn’t get the Holy Ghost until they were “prayed for” and upon the laying of hands on them they received the Holy Ghost if we read 8:12, 8:15-17

Ethiopian 8:26-39 believed and was baptized, no mentioning of the eunuch getting the Holy Ghost, but we see that The Spirit of The Lord caught away Philip, and in verse 8:40 we see Philip was found at Azotus and preached in all the cities and more info.

9:17-19 Saul has Ananias lay his hands on Saul and saul receives his sight and to be filled with The Holy Ghost, this is called a baptism in 9:18 but no mention of water,

18:7-8 belief and baptized

"7 And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man’s house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue. 8 And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized."

 

When we look at chapter 18’s closing verses 18:24-28 and the verses following which open up chapter 19 which are verses 19:1-7  we see  Apollos knew only the baptism of John (seen in 18:25), after Paul explains that in 19:4 that John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on Him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. Now in 19:5 they were baptized in the name of The Lord Jesus, 19:6 Paul laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

 

Acts 18:24-28

"24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. 25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. 26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. 27 And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace: 28 for he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ."

 

 

Acts 19:1-7

In Acts 22:12-16 When Paul was giving account of how he met The Lord and received instructions of what to do, when he was with Ananias who laid hands on Saul/Paul as seen in other verses but here in verse 16 Saul/Paul is instructed in 22:16 “And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”
